This story is quite incredible and tells a lot about the power of the new technologies and the help they can give even to the environmental crisis of our planet.

An 47 years old man from Rome was using  Google Earth and has discovered an unknown ship releasing huge amounts of some oily substance in the sea off the Italian city of Montalto di Castro (90 km NW of Rome). He immediately informed the Italian police that is now investigating.

In the following image you can easily realize the size of the huge stain:

And here it's clearly visible (click on the image to enlarge it) the proximity to the beaches and to Montalto di Castro:

its the superficial plume of dredging activities, more internet nonsense trying to be sensational!! Shame on you!

At least someone is thinking here (truthsayer). This is nothing other than a ship dregding the bottom of the sea so large ships can enter the port nearby. It is done all the time. And the "oily substance" is nothing but soil and sieve from the bottom of the sea. Hate all the Green-peace who want to make a big deal of everything.
Mr. Sensational Press   | | 2008-11-07 14:51:56
In the first picture you can even see the pumps on the side of the ship. And most importantly, oil is black. Soil and bottom-sieve is brownish like the one surrounding the ship. Hope they fined that 47 y.o. a**hole who called the police for this.

Even if it was oil, the images on google earth are not live, they may be weeks or moths old, so it is already too late to do anything
