The logos of some of the best known car brands haven't always looked the same as they do today.

In some of the oldest car brands, we witness a change in their logo that strives to make it more aesthetically pleasing and, who knows, to keep up with some of the trends that have changed through the years.

:woohoo: OMGZ THATS SOOOOOOOOO COOL!!!
Bunni   | | 2008-09-29 21:30:40
Ummm.. wasnt the first car invented in the 1900s by ford? Why do these date back into the 1850s????
Vasili   | | 2008-09-29 22:43:01
Karl Benz is generally considered to be the father of the modern automobile, and was invented more or less as we know it around 1885. Ford just created the first mass production assembly line.
Niedermeyer   | | 2008-09-30 00:41:14
seriously?......seriously?....wow. I'm gonna guess some blonde hair goes with that name.
James - Yeah   | | 2008-09-30 21:33:17
Vasili's reply says it all. Suprising they don't teach this stuff in highschool. Only reason I knew this is from watching the History Channel. Also, because Henry Ford invented the modern assembly line, his was the first car that was actually affordable to a lot of people, not just the super wealthy.
skillZ - actually   | | 2009-02-18 14:42:21
the fist car was invented in the 1700s. in 1769 the cars looks like a wagon with a motor
Cman   | | 2008-09-29 22:16:46
Bunni, you're a very ignorant person.
woodamn   | | 2008-09-30 01:31:13
dang maybe she just doesnt know most people dont
Bunni   | | 2008-09-30 06:48:37
Congrats go to Niedermeyer and CMan for being total assholes!! I guess you two have a daily prick quota to fill, because I see no other reason for those posts.

Its nice that one person realizes this isnt common knowledge- especially considering that HS textbooks in the US ONLY mention ford, rather than accrediting Karl Benz with the invention. Thanks go to VASILI who actually explained something, so now i KNOW.

Note the swastika embedded in Volkswagen's 1939 symbol. ;)
James - Very interesting   | | 2008-09-30 21:26:06
Very interesting article. You should make another showing other car companies as well. Granted most of the other companies not included wouldn't have nearly as much history as the ones you have here, but it'd still be interesting. Maybe even make one with logos of car companies that don't exist anymore. Cool post nonetheless.
Melinda   | | 2008-10-02 00:58:51
I learned that in highschool. Maybe you just didn't pay attention. Or they didn't teach it back then. Schools do however let students know now
Bunni   | | 2008-10-02 11:18:14
Lol what the hell is wrong with people?? Ok so Im blonde, ignorant and dont pay attention in school??
Game Economy - Nice!     | | 2008-10-07 03:17:37
Very cool. I think Mazda has come the furthest with it's logo development. The pre-WWII VW logo is rather interesting as well.
